Philip Fried Reading: Recap (Now with pictures!)

Last night’s reading with Philip Fried went incredibly well. All of the free space upstairs was occupied with attentive audience members. Philip read about ten poems from his book Interrogating Water and other poems. This collection deals with very contemporary issues around United States foreign policy and the military. Where most books around the topic would normally fall heavy on a crowd, Fried manages to keep the tone light allowing for humor to come through what would otherwise be depressing themes. He engaged the crowd in a discussion that was productive and enlightening for many people, some even stayed after the event wrapped up to continue their conversations in smaller groups, of course wine and good snacks help with mingling. We are happy to say this event was truly successful and we are looking forward to having everyone come back for another.
