Five February Author Events

Book Culture’s 2008 in-store event season kicks off next week. We’ll begin with a poetry reading, followed by discussions about books that cover a variety of topics, including history, psychoanalysis, architecture and political philosophy. Here’s a short summary of what’s coming up:
WED. February 20: Meena Alexander will read from her new collection, Quickly Changing River (Northwestern University Press; $14.95) One of the poems from the book can be read here.
THURS. February 21: D. Graham Burnett will discuss his new book about a historic New York trial, Trying Leviathan (Princeton University Press; $29.95), with Columbia law and history professor John Fabian Witt. Check out Cabinet Magazine’s recent interview with the author.
FRI. February 22: George Makari will read and discuss his new history of psychoanalysis, Revolution in Mind (Harper Collins; $32.50) Read The New York Times review of the book here.
TUES. February 26: Gwendolyn Wright will discuss her book, USA: Modern Architectures in History (Reaktion; $29.95) with fellow Columbia GSAPP colleague Reinhold Martin.
WED. February 27: Tanisha Fazal in conversation with her Columbia University political science colleague Charles H. Tilly, discussing her book, State Death: The Politics and Geography of Conquest, Occupation and Annexation (Princeton University Press; $27.95)
